How it Works

  1. 01

    Submit a request

Walk-in clients fill in a sample analysis request form, approved by the Head of Department. Police submit exhibits with a formal request on Police Form 17A.

  2. 02

    Payment & reception

A bank advisory form is issued for any applicable fees. Exhibits are checked against the request, registered and allocated laboratory numbers.

  3. 03

    Scientific analysis

Qualified scientists carry out the analysis in the relevant specialised section, following GAL's standard operating procedures.

  4. 04

    Review & quality check

Results are reviewed against GAL's quality requirements, which conform to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

  5. 05

    Report & advice

A signed report is issued, with expert advice and testimony in court where required.

Before You Come

Preparing your request

  • Walk-in requests take a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 6 hours to process at reception.
  • Check the fees schedule so you know what to pay through the bank advisory form.
  • Police exhibits must come with a completed Police Form 17A.
  • Turnaround times for each test follow the MIA Client Charter 2025/26–2029/30.
